I Have A Dream....

The famous words of Martin Luther King Jr.  ring hallow for many  today.  What prevents King's vision from becoming a reality are the grudges that "Civil Rights" leaders still carry.    They are stuck in the 60's without a clue as to what is going on  around them in 2009.  To use a presidential term,  they are "stupidly"  hiding behind their ideology,  using the color of their skin as a means to achieve what they want.  It is the same playbook that they have been using for over forty years.  See white person.  Blame white person for your problem.  Blame white person for the problems of ALL Blacks.  Claim injustice because you are a black person.  Go on "Poor Me I'm Black" media tour.  One thing has been added to the playbook, in the year 2009,  they get a choice of book deal, documentary or both to detail their injustice.  Sorry Dr. King, I don't think your dream will become a reality.
The case of Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr.  is so clear that it is amazing to see how this is being played in the media.  According to the Al Sharptons of the world this is an open and shut case of racial profiling. The Harvard professor is charging that Officer James Crowley is a racist because the officer had the audacity to ask for a piece of identification. Since when is asking for a piece of id a racist act? Using this same logic,  the next time a police officer pulls a woman over for an alleged traffic violation, should it be assumed that when the officer asks  for the driver's identification that he is being sexist?  Or does this rule about identification only apply to blacks?  What an insult that is to every American!   This is a demonstration of  how these civil rights activists have become elitist.  It is not enough to be be equal. The goal is to be elevated above all races as supreme.  "You don't know who you are messing with."  To be honest, Professor Gates,  I am sure that the officers and the rest of America knew exactly who they were dealing with and who you were.  A  Harvard snob who believes that the world owes him a debt that will never be paid in full to his liking.
In another surprising twist,  during a Healthcare Press conference, a reporter asked President Obama about the incident.  Adding injury to insult to the brave men and women in blue,  President Obama  claims that the Cambridge Police were wrong and acted "stupidly".  When hearing this, three questions come to mind:   First of all,  why was this question  brought up when the main theme of the evening was Obama's Healthcare debacle?  Secondly,  was  the question  inserted to try to divert audience's attention to another topic?  Finally,  Mr. President,  why would you answer a question when you don't have all the facts?  Why check facts?  Facts don't mean anything to liberals!   If they did, this case would not have gone national.   Gates only needed to be cool headed enough to understand that the police were called to investigate a possible break-in.  Why be cool headed when there is an opportunity to exploit the situation to cash in on it.  Professor Gates might want to send a thank you note to his pal Obama for adding fuel to his story.
It is sad to realize that we have come so far yet we have gotten no where.   This is the land of opportunity for everyone to excel but Civil rights liberal activists refuse to let the dream become a reality.   Dr. King, without a doubt, would be happy to see the First Black Man become president.  He would be happy to see black business leaders, doctors and lawyers working to make the American dream become a reality for themselves and their families. Wasn't that goal?     Sadly, we are stuck in racism in a way that never occurred to Dr. King or those who fought along side him.   What separates us  is not the color of skin but the color of our ideology.  That is a harder hurdler to get over.   At this point,  the dream will continue to be just that .... a dream.

Needing a Miracle on Main Street... What should we do now?

The conservative movement is not dead, and it does not need to go into exile.    Losing an election does not mean the fight is over.  It means it has just begun.  Where do conservatives go now for their Miracle on Main Street?  Trust me, the Liberal Messiah is not going to part the sea or make everything better with just one Presidential win,  and God forbid, not even with two.  Obama, Pelosi and Reed can say they have a mandate, and that's fine.  We  have a mission, and it is to protect this country, our way of life and freedom with every ounce of energy that can be mustered.
One of the fallings of this campaign was the top of the ticket.  Do not get me wrong,  Senator McCain is an honorable man, but he is not a conservative. Day after day in the campaign, he refused to call into question Senator Obama's relationship with Wright, refused to question Obama's character, and refused to expose Obama as a  radical liberal.   Before someone raises their hand and says that McCain got tough in the last debate, let's just say, "It's a little too little, it's a little to late."   Also,  disaster was written on the wall the weekend leading up to election night.  His appearance on SNL did not help him, it damaged him.  He looked weak, and pleading on the Weekend Update. Whoever  thought that was a good idea, should be checked into an asylum. As conservatives, we should not be placated to accept a moderate again. True conservative ideas always win on their own merits.  The top of the Republican ticket should be unashamedly conservative.  No excuses and no apologies.  Have you ever heard a liberal say, "I'm really a  nice person.  I really am sorry, but I do believe that the rich should pay more taxes.  The government should provide food, shelter and clothing for everyone --- including me!"  I have yet to hear that apology, but I always hear it from conservatives.  Please call me when Obama, Pelosi or Reed apologize.
We must by all means necessary debate and educate those who do not see our point of view.  When moderates and feel-good Republicans say, "Okay I will work with you, if you meet me half way."  They are  conceding to the left's agenda.  The debate must be won by conservatives in a way that will have the other side join us and if they don't join, then their liberal ideas must be defeated.  Nothing personal,  Senator Obama, your ideas are just plain dangerous. McCain's campaign did not have a foundation to build upon because Moderates are always those who are on the fence and like to watch what happens before taking a stand.  They wish to be liked. They do not want to offend.  Well,  political correctness has buried the chance of a patriotic candidate who could not find his voice.   It shouldn't matter whether we are liked or not, it matters more that the conservative ideas earn the respect from the opposing side.   Senator McCain did not have the left's respect, they mocked him for his age, his changing message and his choice of crossing the aisle.  Why were surprised  that he lost?
The conservative movement must take leadership on the issues that matter most to American families.  First and foremost, taxes.  At the current state,  if families are taxed any further, the economy will collapse.  Which leads to the financial mess  that was placed at the feet of the Republicans,  namely the mortgage bailouts.  When Republicans took the blame that belonged squarely on the shoulders of Democrats like Dodd and Frank, and signed legislation to bailout these poor companies, they frankly shot themselves in the foot.  How much will this bailout cost the taxpayers before they see a "return" on the money?  From the point of view of the average taxpayer, who is struggling to make ends meet today,   they  think that they will be dead when that happens.  Perhaps they will see it when energy prices go down.   Oh, I forgot,  with the liberals in charge that may be when H E double hockey sticks freezes over.
Security at home is a major issue.  One that the Republicans have always been strong on.  This tradition must continue.  Part of President's Bush's legacy will be that he kept American safe after 9/11.  McCain should have proudly shared in that accomplishment along side Bush, but he choose to run away from a President who had a better approval rating then the Democrat led House and Senate.  If American is to be respected in the world, we must protect our borders from terrorists,  control immigration to this country and defend our allies when they call upon us for help.  When we have accomplished this,  the world may envy us for our military strength, but  they will secretly be thankful for a strong America.
Freedom of speech is one of the most precious gifts that we have.  It is not to be tossed away under the Fairness Doctrine.  Once that right is taken from us, all the others will soon follow.  Don't take my word for it,  look at the history of Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and Communist Russia and China.  Freedom of speech, religion and right to assemble peacefully are the foundation of our Constitution,  if the conservative do no defend this,  we will be at the mercy of propaganda Government and media.  Truth  will no longer exists.
This must all happen from the bottom up.  Conservatives must take action in their cities, counties, states.   New leaders must emerge to make the path for future conservatives to follow.  Without new leadership, new voices rededicated to the principals of  the American Dream,  I am convinced, that the middle class will no longer exist.  It will be the haves and the have nots.  This is what will lead America to be a "down right mean country."  Trying to squelch the American spirt will only lead to anger.  Perhaps, this is what we need.  Not the violent anger,  the productive anger that speaks louder than any empty campaign rhetoric.  It sparks a flame of hope in the youngest to the oldest citizen.  We must capture  the hope of the American dream and define in real terms what that means to the average American.
President-elect Obama, I am hereby  putting you on notice.  I will continue to write, to debate and to work against any policy that I believe is wrong for America and for my family.  I may not have a Harvard Degree, but I do have courage.  I believe that I am not the only one.  There are about 56 million more just like me.
