Before the Greatest President-elect ever takes his place in the oval office, it would be a wise idea to publicly list all the things for which I am grateful for in my life. Who know, I may not get the opportunity after January 20, 2009. I will try to make the list short and to the point, in an effort to keep the liberals' attention.
First I am thankful for my husband. I am thankful that I live in a country that still recognizes that marriage is between a man and a woman. Having said that, all though it is nice to have that "recognition", I do not need my government's blessing upon my marriage. My Catholic church does that for me, therefore it is blessed by God.
Second, I am thankful for my parents, who are my biggest heroes. If they did not leave their country and family to live the American dream, I would not have the wonderful opportunities and blessings that I enjoy now as an American citizen. They taught me to persevere when the going got tough and to never become lazy or complacent. If you want something bad enough, you've got to go out and get it. Don't depend on someone else to get it for you.
Third, I am grateful for the Big Three in Detroit. If it were not for the Big Three Automakers in Detroit, our city and state would have been a wasteland a long time ago. The Big Three were the backbone of our economy for so long, that we have forgotten how interwoven they are in Detroit and America's workforce. From engineers to assembly line workers to sales, these jobs have provided for many families. They can still do so, but not without the support of the American people. It is time to be thankful for all big corporations in America. Without them, who would create jobs? Who would stimulate growth and innovations? Corporations have been painted as "evil" by the far left for far too long. It is only because of envy that people hurl the labels of greed, cold, calculating and ruthless at CEO's. They are the ones who make things happen and for that I am grateful.
Fourth, I am grateful for the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness. Without this basic right, I would not be able to have the right to choose my religion or to choose what I read, say or speak. Added to that, I would not have the right to bear arms, to vote, or own property. I am grateful for a government, that in theory, stands up for the American people. It is a blessing to be able to remind this government that sometimes they have gone astray and it is the PEOPLE whose voices should be heard first.
Finally, I am grateful that God truly did shine his grace on America. It is evident by so many factors, one of which, is the fact that we have not been attacked on our soil since September 11, 2001. That's seven long years. I just hope that with the new Administration that this record will not be broken.
These are all the things I am grateful for in my life. My only worry is that the blessings that I count today, will be wiped away by the Obama "not so much change" dream team.
